Constituency questions

Mrs McARTHUR (Western Victoria) (12:35): My constituency question is for the Minister for Transport Infrastructure and concerns last week’s announcement on the Melbourne–Geelong rail project. Minister, the international airport at Avalon is a significant asset and has the potential to be a key economic driver for the whole region. G21 and other stakeholders have previously pushed for the inclusion of a station in any future rail investment. It was hugely disappointing therefore to see no mention of a station in the plans put forward. My question to the minister is: when will the government show it is serious about infrastructure investment outside the city and commit to funding this essential connection?
