Anthony MARSH (Nepean) (09:58): On 16 July the opposition leader and I visited the Southern Peninsula Rescue Squad in Blairgowrie. Since 1967 this volunteer organisation has provided marine search and rescue across Port Phillip Bay and the Bass Strait coast. Operating around the clock, its volunteers assist police, ambulance and lifesaving organisations by rescuing people, searching for missing boats and towing vessels to safety. I thank Kent and the team for showing us their operation and for their extraordinary commitment to keeping our waters and community safe.
