Constituency questions
Bev McArthur  (LIB)

Mrs McARTHUR (Western Victoria) (12:48): My constituency question is for the Minister for Education. Last week Melton Secondary College emailed parents to notify them that students in years 7 to 9 will not attend campus on Thursday and Friday of this week but will instead work from home. The school said that it was part of a trial of online learning days as a way to build our students’ skills in self-directed learning and work management. Minister, due to the failures of the Andrews government, school students in Victoria missed over 100 days of school last year. Students learning from home was enormously challenging and stressful for many Victorian families. Parents cannot simultaneously work and homeschool, and their employers cannot pay them to do so. So the question is: will the government release guidelines to recommend all schools ensure that learning takes place on campus?
