SUZANNA SHEED  (IND)

Ms SHEED (Shepparton) — It was great to attend the Shepparton Agricultural Show, which took place on
9 and 10 October. The Shepparton Agricultural Society was formed in 1877, and it held its first show in that year. Events of the current year's show included a celebrity milk-off, an attempt to achieve a Guinness world record for the largest number of hand-painted cows and the decorated novelty cake competition. The All Aboard Shepparton campaign took pride of place in this cake section, where 14 train cakes were entered in the bake-off, including one from the year 5 and 6 students of Congupna Primary School. V/Line contributed a voucher for travel for a family of four that went to the winner of the competition.

I would like to thank all of those who participated in the competition. I also thank the Shepparton Agricultural Show and V/Line for the help provided in continuing to promote our campaign for better rail services for the Shepparton district, which is so strongly supported in our community. Country shows are an important part of the fabric of our community, and the committee of the Shepparton Agricultural Show is to be congratulated on the job it did in presenting this event.
