Legislative Assembly

BROADMEADOWS ELECTORATE

20 March 2019
Constituency questions
Frank McGuire  (ALP)

Mr McGUIRE (Broadmeadows) (11:45:25): (382) My constituency question is to the Minister for Workplace Safety. Up to 19 million litres of illegally dumped toxic waste could be stashed in warehouses across Melbourne’s north, including my electorate, according to WorkSafe Victoria. Cleaning the dump sites could cost an estimated $50 million. This would make it the biggest illicit dumping in Melbourne’s history. Can the minister provide an update on the progress to clean up these sites and what action will be taken against the duty holder for failure to appropriately store chemicals, placing the public at risk?
